Liverpool are interested in a January swoop for Olympiakos midfielder Aguibou Camara, according to reports.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular in the Greek side since a transfer from Lille in July, making 25 appearances in all competitions.

Camara, who has five goals and four assists this term, is set to jet off to Africa Cup of Nations with the Guinea national team.

Despite this, Foot Mercato report that Liverpool hold an interest in the player who can play as a wide or central attacking midfielder.

It’s claimed that Olympiakos would look for a fee in the region of  £12.5 million for Camara who has three-and-a-half years left on his deal.

Described as a “Guinean phenomenon”, it’s also reported that Newcastle United have an interest in Camara.

Whether he stays or goes, the earliest potential date the highly-rated midfielder will be available for selection at club level would be following Guinea’s final group game on 18 January – if Syli Nationale were to fail to make it to the knockout stages.
