Liverpool’s blistering form was slowed slightly by Brighton on Saturday as the Seagulls came from 2-0 down at Anfield to secure an impressive 2-2 draw.

Despite the minor setback, Jurgen Klopp will be delighted how his side has started the season having gone unbeaten and scored 29 goals in 10 games.

The Reds went under the radar a little in the summer due to headline signings made by the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

But the performances of the imperious Mohamed Salah combined with the return of Virgil van Dijk from injury seems to have Liverpool on the right track at contending to win the title they did for the first time in 30 years back in 2020.

Whether or not they are to repeat that feat, it seems as though the club have one eye on bolstering their squad next summer as, according to Fichajes, the Reds have made Leicester City’s Harvey Barnes one of their ‘top transfer targets’.

Barnes netted 13 goals in 35 matches last term.

It’s claimed that the Englishman is ahead of Wolves’ Pedro Neto and Rennes’ Jeremy Doku on a list of targets.

Barnes, 23, only signed a new four-year deal with the Foxes in the summer meaning a significant offer would have to be made for Leicester to even contemplate letting the winger move on.

The one-time England international has established himself in the Premier League after successful loan spells with MK Dons, Barnsley and West Bromwich Albion.

With his energy, pace and ability to find the back of the net, would Barnes’ style of play would suit Klopp’s attacking, high-pressing system? Or would a move to Anfield prove a step up too far?
