Liverpool have reportedly made contact with the agent of France international midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to ESPN FC.

The Premier League side, who currently sit top of the English top-flight standings having won their opening four league games, have been linked with a move for the Paris Saint-Germain star.

The 23-year-old, who has six international caps for his country, has scored one goal and provided one assist in five appearances in all competitions for the defending Ligue 1 champions so far this season.

Rabiot, who spent time at Manchester City back in 2008 during his youth career, has netted 23 times in 213 games overall for the club.

The report claims The Reds have made an approach for the player via his mother and agent, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp a big admirer of the central midfielder.

It is understood Klopp has monitored Rabiot’s career closely since trying to sign him for former club Borussia Dortmund, and has even discussed a move to Anfield with the Frenchman already.

The midfielder is in the final year of his contract at PSG, having turned down all offers to extend his stay in the French capital so far.

A reported transfer target for FC Barcelona, too, Rabiot would be able to speak to clubs in the New Year ahead of a free transfer next summer.
