Premier League leaders Liverpool travel south to face Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

Arne Slot’s side booked their place in the Carabao Cup final with a 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday and remain in contention to win an unprecedented quadruple.

Despite sitting top of the Premier League and having comfortably cruised through to the last 16 of the Champions League, it appears that those in charge of the Reds’ recruitment are still eyeing potential new recruits.

As per CaughtOffside, Liverpool are one of a number of top Premier League sides interested in Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg.

The report claims that the 17-year-old could be available for a fee of around £25 million this summer, and that is said to have alerted a number of top flight sides.

Liverpool’s fierce rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are both also said to have shown interest in the central midfielder, who made his debut for the Black Cats as a 15-year-old.

Rigg has attracted interest from some of the biggest clubs in England

Rigg has now played more than 50 times for Sunderland at senior level and has played a crucial role for Regis Le Bris’ side this term, missing just four of their 31 Championship games.

Premier League sides Chelsea, Manchester City, Brighton and Hove Albion, and Newcastle United are also said to be among the youngster’s admirers, while European heavyweights Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have also show interest.

The teenager is contracted to Sunderland until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the report claims that the Championship high-flyers are considering cashing in on the player this summer.

The North East giants will, however, demand a fee of £25 million for the midfielder, who has scored four goals in 29 games across all competitions so far this term.
