Liverpool will look to overturn a 3-0 first leg defeat when they face Atalanta in the Europa League quarter-finals on Thursday.

The Merseyside outfit were heavy favourites to east past their Italian counterparts and into the final four of the competition, but a shock defeat at Anfield last week has put hopes of winning the competition in serious doubt.

A 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Sunday has also thrown their Premier League title pursuit into serious doubt, meaning that Klopp could now finish his final season in charge of the club without winning another trophy.

Someone else who could be leaving Anfield this summer is midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to Football Insider.

The report claims that the Spaniard has instructed his agent to find him a new club, in anticipation that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the current campaign.

Thiago’s current contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and the midfielder is expected to depart.

Thiago has only played five minutes so far this season

Having initially joined the Reds from German side Bayern Munich in 2020 and has made a total of 98 appearances for the club across all competitions, but he has been limited to just one game so far this season.

The midfielder missed the first six months of the season due to a hip injury and, after making a five-minute return against Arsenal in February, he has since been sidelined due to a muscle problem.

It is claimed that the 33-year-old doesn’t want to retire, despite his persistent injury problems over the past 12 months.

Since arriving in England, Thiago has lifted both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, but Liverpool don’t plan to offer him an extension to his current contract and he is therefore set to leave Anfield.
