Liverpool will be hoping to put their Champions League humiliation against Real Madrid behind them when they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday evening.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were thrashed 5-2 by the reigning European champions at Anfield on Tuesday night, despite the hosts racing into an early two-goal lead.

The result, which marked the first time Liverpool have ever conceded five goals in a European tie at their home ground, ended The Reds’ brief run of good form.

Prior to Tuesday’s game, Liverpool had won their previous two Premier League matches, but they were unable to maintain their momentum as Carlo Ancelotti’s side ran riot in the second half.

Now, one of The Reds’ most important players could reportedly be sold this summer as Klopp plans an overhaul of his struggling squad.

As per The Mirror, the Merseyside club are considering allowing Brazil international Fabinho to leave the club at the end of the season.

Fabinho could be sold this summer

Liverpool are reportedly set to prioritise their midfield during the upcoming summer transfer window, with a number of players potentially set to leave.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner are all set to be out of contract and look almost certain to leave Anfield, while loanee Arthur Melo is set to return to parent club Juventus having made very little impact at Anfield so far.

Fabinho, meanwhile, could be sold to allow Liverpool to sign a new defensive midfielder.

The report highlights how Klopp pushed heavily to sign Aurelien Tchouameni last summer, potentially suggesting that he is seeking a Fabinho replacement.

The Brazilian midfielder joined The Reds from Monaco back in 2018 and has since made more than 200 appearances for the club.

During his time in England, he has lifted the Premier League, Champions League and both domestic cups.

The midfielder, who has already made 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season, is contracted to Liverpool until 2026.
