Liverpool fans face an uncertain summer ahead with a number of potential incomings and outgoings at the club as Jurgen Klopp looks to bounce back after a disappointing season.

The Reds’ defence of their first ever Premier League title went far from to plan, and Klopp’s side only secured Champions League qualification on the final day of the season after a remarkable run of form in the final 10 games.

Midfielder Gini Wijnaldum has since departed the club, joining Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after his deal came to an end.

After such a disappointing campaign off the back of Champions League and Premier League triumphs in consecutive seasons, it appears that Klopp is already looking ahead to next term and has identified one target that has been likened to one of the club’s current stars.

Malen registered 27 goals and ten assists in Eredivisie last season

According to Sky Sports Germany, Liverpool have ‘ opened talks’ with Dutch side PSV about Donyell Malen.

The report suggests that the forward, who is currently at Euro 2020 with the Netherlands, is valued at around £27 million and is informally labelled the ‘next Mo Salah’.

The 22-year-old ex-Arsenal youth player started in the 3-0 victory over North Macedonia on Monday and set up Memphis Depay for the third goal.

While the report does not speculate as to whether or not PSV would be happy to sell Malen, it insists that Sporting Director Michael Edwards is pushing strongly for the move.

Liverpool signed Diogo Jota last season to compete with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Salah for places in the front three, but it appears that they could be on the hunt for more attacking talent in order to challenge for the Premier League title once again next season.
