Liverpool are back in Premier League action on Wednesday night when they welcome rivals Chelsea to Anfield.

The Reds cruised past Championship side Norwich City in the FA Cup last time out, beating the Canaries 5-2 to set up a fifth round tie against either Watford or Southampton.

The match was Liverpool’s first since manager Jurgen Klopp announced that he is to leave the club at the end of the current season, and those in charge of the club will already be working hard to find the German’s successor.

It appears, though, that the club’s owners also have a plan in place for one of their key players.

As per Football Insider, the Liverpool board are keen to ensure that talisman Mohamed Salah stays put beyond this summer despite Klopp’s impending departure.

Salah could once again attract interest from Saudi Arabia this summer

The 31-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s best players in recent seasons, but he was the subject of intense interest from Saudi Arabian clubs last summer and it appears that he may once again be this time around.

Liverpool are set for a summer of huge change with Klopp’s entire backroom staff also set to depart with the German, as well as sporting director Jorg Schmadtke.

Pro League side Al-Ittihad offered the Reds a staggering £150 million for Salah during last summer’s transfer window, but the Premier League side rejected the bid.

It is claimed that the Saudi side retain an interest in the player, who has less than 18 months remaining on his current contract at Anfield.

Since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has scored 204 goals in 332 matches for Liverpool across all competitions, as well as providing 88 assists.

Despite rumours suggesting that the player himself is keen to move to the Middle East, the report claims that Liverpool’s owners are extremely reluctant to lose both Salah and Klopp in the same period.
