Jurgen Klopp can be rejuvenated by the significant momentum his Liverpool side built up at the end of last season.

The Reds dragged themselves back into the top four at the tail end of the previous campaign, winning seven and drawing two of their final nine Premier League matches.

Klopp must have felt like he was trying to build a puzzle which kept breaking itself on him, having lost first team defenders Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip to long term injuries.

Throw in another to captain Jordan Henderson, as well as a dip in form to both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, the former Borussia Dortmund manager must have felt like the footballing gods had it in for him.

However, he is now looking to refresh and trim his squad at the same time and, according to Corriere Dello Sport, Lazio have expressed an interest in signing Xherdan Shaqiri from the Reds.

Shaqiri scored three goals and contributed one assist for Switzerland in Euro 2020.

The Swiss maestro enjoyed a strong showing at Euro 2020 as Switzerland won their first ever knockout tie in the Euros to progress to the quarter-finals.

However, Shaqiri has struggled for game time at Anfield, only making 14 Premier League appearances last season.

He also scored more goals for Switzerland at the Euros than he did in all competitions for Klopp’s side.

His days at Anfield look all but over, and a move could be the perfect rejuvenation for the classy playmaker understood to be valued at around just £12 million.
