Liverpool will be hoping to pick up their first win of the season when they face Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea in their Premier League season opener on Sunday, but manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that his side can prove too strong for the Cherries at Anfield.

The Merseyside outfit have endured a frustrating week having missed out to Chelsea in the race to sign Moises Caicedo, and it now looks likely that Romeo Lavia will also opt for a move to Stamford Bridge over Anfield.

With that in mind, Liverpool have started looking at alternative targets, and it appears that they could be plotting a move for an Eredivisie star.

According to Football Insider, the Reds are considering a move to sign PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko.

The 20-year-old is a product of the Dutch giants’ youth academy and has established himself in the first team over the past year.

Bakayoko could be a target for Liverpool if they lose Mohamed Salah

Bakayoko made 33 appearances across all competitions for PSV last season and impressed when given the opportunity, scoring seven goals and providing five assists.

The report claims that Liverpool could make a move for the winger if they lose talisman Mohamed Salah, who has become the latest player to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The Egyptian is believed to have been made the subject of interest from Pro League clubs, and the Merseyside outfit are therefore putting plans together to replace the former Chelsea man incase he were to depart.

Bakayoko is contracted to the Dutch top flight side until 2026, which could make negotiations more difficult for Liverpool as his current employers are under very little pressure to sell.

In March this year Bakayoko was handed his senior international debut for Belgium and the winger has now been capped four times by his country, scoring once.
