Premier League giants Liverpool remain unfazed about midfielder Emre Can’s contract situation, despite no new deal being agreed yet, according to The Liverpool Echo.

The 23-year-old demonstrated in the second half of the season how integral he is and will become to Jurgen Klopp’s side, finishing the campaign with 26 Premier League starts, and five goals and two assists.

Jordan Henderson’s injury opened up a spot for the Germany international in the Reds midfield, and he duly obliged with several fine displays, and his exquisite finish in their 1-0 win over Watford last month underlined the confidence he had gained from a sustained run in the first team.

However, despite becoming a key part of Klopp’s side, the 23-year-old has yet to agree a new deal at Anfield, and with speculation building with just over 12 months left on his current contract, his future on Merseyside is far from certain.

Nonetheless, reports suggest that Liverpool are unfazed and ‘relaxed’ about Can’s situation, with it appearing that the midfielder does want to stay at the club.

This will surely come as good news for Reds fans who saw their side secure a top four finish in the Premier League, and thus return to the Champions League after a two-year absence.

And with expectations rising that they will compete both domestically and in Europe next term, they have to keep the squad in tact, and Can is certainly growing in importance in that Reds side.
