Liverpool begin their pre-season preparations with a game against Spanish side Real Betis on Saturday.

Arne Slot, who succeeded Jurgen Klopp as Reds boss earlier this summer, will want to use his side’s pre-season friendlies to assess his squad before the start of the new Premier League campaign next month.

The Merseyside outfit are yet to make a signing during the transfer window so far, but it has now emerged that the club have learned how much one of their targets could cost.

As per Football Insider, Juventus will demand a fee in the region of £20-25 million for central defender Dean Huijsen.

The 19-year-old has recently returned from a six-month loan spell at fellow Serie A side Roma, where he made 14 appearances across all competitions.

Huijsen has attracted interest from both Liverpool and Aston Villa

Huijsen joined Juventus’ youth setup from Spanish side Malaga in 2021 but has only played once for the Turin outfit at senior level.

It appears that his impressive displays for Roma last term have alerted Premier League clubs, though, with both Liverpool and Aston Villa said to have shown interest in the Spaniard.

The teenager has four years remaining on his current contract with Juventus, which is likely part of the reason why the Italian club are demanding a sizeable fee for the player.

It is claimed that Liverpool are on the hunt for a new left-sided centre-back and Huijsen has been identified as a viable target.

Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guehi is another player that has been considered by the Merseyside outfit, the report says, but they are unlikely to accept the Eagles’ £70 million price tag for the player.
