Liverpool have reportedly rejected Southampton’s bid to sign France international defender Mamadou Sakho, according to Sky Sports (10:06).
The Premier League side, who currently sit third in the English top-flight standings after drawing 1-1 against rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, have been linked with offloading the out-of-favour centre-half during the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old, who has 28 international caps for his country, has failed to make a single first-team appearance for The Reds so far this season.
Sakho, who has in fact featured six times for Liverpool in the Premier League 2 this term, is thought to be valued at around £20m by the Anfield outfit.
The report suggests that Liverpool have rejected a loan offer from Premier League rivals Southampton, although La Liga side Sevilla are also thought to be interested in the Frenchman’s services this month.
Sakho has scored three goals in 80 appearances for The Reds since arriving at Anfield from Paris Saint-Germain in September 2013.
