Liverpool will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they face Newcastle United on Monday evening.

The Reds currently sit top of the pile but second-placed Aston Villa moved level on points with the leaders courtesy of a 3-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side therefore sit top on goal difference, but the German will be keen to see his side move clear at the summit with victory over the Magpies.

Despite Liverpool having not yet played this weekend, it appears that the club’s scouts have been busy attending other Premier League games.

As per Football Insider, the Reds have been regularly scouting Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise in recent weeks.

The Frenchman netted twice to help Palace beat Brentford on Saturday, ending the Eagles’ winless run.

Olise has attracted interest from Liverpool

It is claimed that Liverpool are considering a move for Olise as they search for a successor to Mohamed Salah.

The Egypt international has established himself as one of the world’s best players in recent years and has scored a remarkable 202 goals in 331 matches for the red across all competitions.

He has been the subject of intense interest from Saudi Arabian clubs, though, and was the subject of a £150 million offer over the summer.

With Salah’s future therefore relatively uncertain, Liverpool have been assessing possible targets to replace the former Chelsea man, and Olise has emerged as a leading contender.

Olise, 22, joined Palace from Football League club Reading back in 2021, and has since made 80 appearances for the club.

He has scored 11 goals across all competitions, as well as providing 20 assists.

The report claims that Liverpool have held an interest in Olise since he made his senior debut for the Royals as a 17-year-old.

Both Chelsea and Manchester City were also interested last summer, but the player opted to stay put at Selhurst Park and signed a new four-year contract shortly after.
