Liverpool will hope to keep alive their dreams of completing a treble this season when they travel to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday.

The Reds currently sit 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and, having already reached the final of the Carabao Cup, Arne Slot’s side are in with a good chance of winning three trophies in the Dutchman’s first season in charge.

Slot’s achievements so far this season are made more impressive when considering the fact that he has only added one player – Federico Chiesa – to his squad since taking charge.

Regardless of how successful this season is, though, that could change this summer as Liverpool have sent scouts to watch a defender in action.

According to TBR Football, the Merseyside outfit sent scouts to watch Ajax defender Jorrel Hato in action against Go Ahead Eagles last week.

The Amsterdam side ran out 2-0 winners in the game, with 18-year-old Haot impressing at left-back.

Hato is a target for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window

The teenager has been used on the left side of defence for the entirety of the current campaign, despite his ability to play as a centre-back.

It is claimed that Hato was a target for Liverpool during the tenure of former boss Jurgen Clop, but the Dutchman remains of interest now that Slot is in charge.

Hato is a product of the fruitful Ajax youth system and his next appearance for the club will be his 100th at senior level.

The full-back is contracted to his boyhood club until the end of June 2028, and the report suggests that Ajax value him at around £40 million.

While the scouts were watching Hato, the report claims that they were also keeping a keen eye on two other players, namely Anton Gaaei and Mika Godts.
