Liverpool will hope take another huge step towards the Premier League title when they face Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds currently sit 12 points clear at the top of the table and, with just eight games remaining, are firmly on course to lift the Premier League for just the second time ever.

Head coach Arne Slot will be desperate to see his side beat the Cottagers, who have enjoyed an impressive season so far under Marco Silva.

Off the pitch, Liverpool are still contending with uncertainty surrounding the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

All three players are set to be out of contract this summer, and could therefore depart Anfield as free agents at the end of the current campaign.

Now, though, it has emerged that the Merseyside club are set to keep hold of one of their senior defenders.

According to Football Insider, centre-back Jarell Quansah is set to stay put at Anfield beyond this summer despite interest from Newcastle United.

Quansah, 22, is a product of the Reds’ youth system and has forced his way into the first team over the past couple of seasons.

He has now played 55 times for the club at senior level, and is an important part of Slot’s squad.

The report claims that Liverpool are not set to cash in on the Englishman despite interest from the Magpies, as he is under contract until 2029 and there is therefore very little pressure on the club to sell the player.

This comes despite the England international having ben overlooked by Slot during their win against Everton on Wednesday, when Curtis Jones was used as a makeshift right-back ahead of Quansah.

His status as a home-grown player also benefits Liverpool, the report claims.
