Liverpool are reportedly set to complete the loan signing of England international Steven Caulker.

The Premier League side, who drew 2-2 with League Two outfit Exeter City in the FA Cup last Friday, have a mounting defensive injury crisis at Anfield and are believed to be close to snapping up the Queens Park Rangers centre-half.

The 24-year-old, who made his international debut for the Three Lions against Sweden back in November 2012, has made just three league appearances for Ronald Koeman’s Southampton this term whilst on a season-long loan spell.

After losing fellow defenders Mamadou Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Dejan Lovren to injury in recent times, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is desperate to not let his defensive injury crisis sabotage Liverpool’s pursuit of a top four Premier League finish come May.

English top-flight rivals AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Norwich City and Sunderland were all linked with permanent January moves for the QPR defender.
