Liverpool defeated Championship side Stoke City 5-0 on Sunday afternoon, with Darwin Nunez netting a hat-trick for Arne Slot’s side.

The Reds previously defeated Preston North End 3-1 in their first friendly of the summer, before cruising to victory over the Potters in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

Slot guided his side to the Premier League title in his first season in charge at Anfield, and the Dutchman will hope to repeat the trick next time around.

While Liverpool have already bolstered their squad since the end of last season, it appears that they could soon lose one of their attackers.

According to CaughtOffside, Italian giants AC Milan have initiated contact with the representatives of Liverpool star Federico Chiesa about a possible move.

The 27-year-old joined the Reds from Serie A side Juventus last summer but has since struggled to force his way into Slot’s squad.

The Italian started just one of Liverpool’s 38 Premier League matches last term, and scored only twice in 14 games across all competitions.

It is claimed that Juventus – the forward’s former club – are also interested in re-signing the player, while Spanish side Atletico Madrid are also credited with an interest.

Liverpool aren’t set to demand a significant fee for the Italy international, who has been left out of Slot’s squad for the Reds’ pre-season tour of Asia, during which they will face AC Milan and Yokohama F. Marinos.

Chiesa himself is said to be keen to secure regular first team football in an effort to cement his place in the Italy squad for the World Cup in the United States next year.

The forward is currently contracted to Liverpool until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
