Liverpool continued their strong start to the new Premier League season by beating Wolves 3-1 on Saturday.

The Reds had to come from behind to earn victory, with goals from Cody Gakpo and Andy Robertson – as well as an own goal – earning three points.

Jurgen Klopp’s side now sit third in the Premier League table, just two points behind leaders Manchester City, and are unbeaten in the league so far.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to Austria to face LASK in the opening round of Europa League group stage fixtures, but in the meantime it appears that the Merseyside outfit are set to be handed a huge boost.

According to 90min, full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is close to agreeing a contract extension with the club.

The report claims that the 24-year-old has become the subject of interest from clubs including Real Madrid and Barcelona, but he is set to commit his long-term future to his boyhood club.

Alexander-Arnold could soon sign a new contract with Liverpool

Alexander-Arnold is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy and has made 277 appearances for the club across all competitions, providing 73 assists and scoring 16 times.

Since graduating into the first team, Alexander-Arnold has won seven trophies including the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup.

He has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the world in recent seasons, however Klopp has also used him in midfield over the past few months.

The Englishman – who missed the win over Wolves due to a hamstring injury – is currently contracted to Liverpool until 2025 but the report claims that he will likely soon put pen to paper on an extension.

Liverpool are said to be hopeful of finalising the deal before Christmas, while the player himself is in line for a pay rise that will see him become one of the club’s highest earners.
