Premier League champions Liverpool have already been busy this summer, signing full-back Jeremie Frimpong from German side Bayer Leverkusen.

The Reds confirmed on Friday that they had agreed a deal to sign the Dutchman from Leverkusen, following the departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Anfield.

Frimpong becomes just the second signing of the Arne Slot era, following the arrival of Federico Chiesa last summer, although goalkeeper Giorgio Mamardashvili is also set to join Slot’s squad this summer having signed from Valencia last year.

Now, it appears that the Premier League champions are set to let one of their first team players leave the club.

According to TBR Football, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is close to signing for fellow top flight side Brentford.

The report claims that the Irishman is being lined up by the Bees as a replacement for Mark Flekken, who looks set to join German giants Bayer Leverkusen.

With Flekken having been given permission to talk to Erik ten Hag’s side, Brentford having been pursuing both Kelleher and Burnley’s James Trafford.

It is claimed, though, that Liverpool could be willing to allow the 26-year-old to depart Anfield for a fee of around £20 million.

Kelleher joined Liverpool as a teenager and has since progressed into the first team squad on Merseyside.

He has failed to establish himself as the Reds’ first-choice ‘keeper, though, and has instead acted as back-up to Alisson for the past few seasons.

In total Kelleher has played 67 times for Liverpool across all competitions, conceding 79 goals and keeping 24 clean sheets.

He is under contract until the end of next season, but the report claims that he could soon be on his way to West London to join Thomas Frank’s side.
