In the opening weeks of the new season, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have looked to be back to their best, recreating some of the form that helped them to a first ever Premier League title two years ago.

Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota have all been impressive in front of goal, while the return of Virgil van Dijk to the Reds’ backline looks to have resolved the defensive issues that hampered them last season.

Harvey Elliot has been another success story for the club this term, playing in all four of the club’s opening games before sustaining a horror injury against Leeds United at Elland Road.

With such an array of talent at his disposal, Klopp has the tough task of keeping his entire squad happy.

In order to do that, it appears that some fringe players could be allowed to leave when the transfer window reopens in January, and one of those could be Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

That’s according to The Mirror, who suggest that the Englishman will be allowed to leave the Merseyside club if the price is right.

The midfielder has fallen out of favour in recent seasons and now appears to be behind the likes of Curtis Jones and Naby Keita in the midfield pecking order, while the form of Klopp’s front three have seen his opportunities further forward also limited.

Oxlade-Chamberlain hasn’t started in the league since the opening day of the season

The report says that the 28-year-old could return to former club Arsenal, who sold the player to Liverpool four years ago.

Despite Oxlade-Chamberlain’s lack of first team chances of late, the Reds are keen to recoup as much as possible of the £35 million that they paid for him.

The midfielder has played just over an hour of Premier League football so far this season, and started just twice in the league last term.

Since arriving in Merseyside in 2017, the midfielder has won both the Champions League and Premier League.

The former England international is admired by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, however, as the two played together in North London.

It is also reported that the Londoners will look to sign the player on an initial six month loan deal.

With the player keen on more regular football and both clubs potentially interested, the move could suit all parties and the January window could present the perfect opportunity for a deal to be done.
