Liverpool’s line-up for their first match of the 2026/27 campaign could look very different to the side that played their final game of last season.

Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah have both already left Anfield since the end of last term, while Andoni Iraola has also replaced Arne Slot as manager.

The Spaniard – who left Bournemouth at the end of the season – is likely to want to make his own changes to his squad, despite Slot and those in charge of the club’s recruitment spending more than £400 million on new signings last summer.

With that in mind, though, it appears that one member of the squad that Iraola has inherited looks set to leave the club this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, Reds forward Federico Chiesa looks increasingly likely to return to Italy this summer, having struggled to establish himself as a regular starter on Merseyside.

The report claims that Liverpool are prepared to sell the Italy international this summer, with the Reds likely to demand a fee in the region of £17.26 million.

Chiesa, 28, joined Liverpool from Serie A side Juventus in 2024, having impressed both for the Old Lady and during a spell with fellow Italian outfit Fiorentina.

Since arriving in England, though, the attacker has scored just five goals in 50 games for the Reds, as well as providing the same number of assists.

Last term the Italy international started just one of Liverpool’s 38 Premier League games.

Serie A sides Napoli and Como are named as the sides currently showing the most serious interest in Chiesa, who is under contract at Anfield until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.

Despite this, it isn’t currently clear whether or not any interested club would be willing to meet the Reds’ valuation of the Italian.
