England face the Republic of Ireland in the first game of their Nations League campaign on Sunday.

Interim boss Lee Carsley has named four uncapped players in his first squad, including Morgan Gibbs-White and Noni Madueke.

A number of established internationals have also been left out, including Marcus Rashford and Kyle Walker.

In Walker’s absence, Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold could start at right-back in Dublin on Saturday.

Now, it has emerged that the defender could soon sign a new contract with the Reds.

As per Football Insider, the Englishman is likely to sign a new deal and commit his future to the club long-term.

The Merseyside outfit have three key players – namely Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah – all currently in the final year of their respective contracts.

Liverpool are keen to agree new deals with all three players, but the report claims that Alexander-Arnold is the most likely of the trio to sign a new deal.

Alexander-Arnold, 25, is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy and has now played more than 310 times for the Reds at senior level.

He has scored 19 times and provided a remarkable tally of 81 assists for the club, winning no fewer than eight trophies including the Champions League and Premier League.

The full-back has been the subject of rumoured interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, and it is claimed that Liverpool are therefore keen to tie him down and deter the European Champions.

At present, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk and Salah could all sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs and then depart Anfield as free agents next summer.

It is also claimed that those in charge of Liverpool perceive Alexander-Arnold as a future club captain.
