While Liverpool sit pretty at the top of the Premier League table, uncertainty surrounding three of their most important players continues to dominate discussion surrounding the club.

Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are each in the final six months of their contracts, and all three could therefore depart Anfield as free agents this summer.

While right-back Alexander-Arnold has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, it has been rumoured that both Salah and Van Dijk are likely to stay put on Merseyside beyond this summer.

Now, it has emerged that another Liverpool star is pushing for a new deal with the club.

According to TBR Football, winger Luis Diaz has informed Liverpool that he wants his contract to be sorted as a priority.

Diaz, 28, joined the Reds from Portuguese side Porto in 2022 and has since played 133 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 37 goals and providing 16 assists.

Diaz is keen to agree a new deal with Liverpool

The Colombia international’s current contract with Liverpool is set to expire in 2027, and the report claims that the player’s representatives have informed the club that he is keen to sort out his future.

Despite this, the report also claims that Liverpool won’t be rushed into agreeing a new deal with the winger, who scored the Reds’ opener in a 2-1 win against Wolves last time out.

This season the Colombian has scored nine goals in 24 Premier League matches, helping Arne Slot’s side to sit top of the table with just 12 matches remaining.

It is claimed that Liverpool are open to the idea of selling at least one of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa this summer and, with Salah’s future still uncertain, the club are therefore unwilling to let Diaz leave.

Spanish side Barcelona are interested in Diaz, the report claims, although the La Liga giants have other players ahead of him on their list of attacking targets.
