Liverpool can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points with victory over Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit five points clear of reigning champions Manchester City, who face Brentford on Monday evening.

Last time out the Reds cruised to a 4-1 victory over struggling Chelsea, and Klopp will be expecting his side to continue their impressive form against the Gunners.

Ahead of the game, one of Liverpool’s most important players is reportedly set for talks over a new contract.

According to Football Insider, full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold is set for talks over a contract extension.

The England international has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League in recent seasons, and he is set to be rewarded with a new deal.

Alexander-Arnold is likely to sign a new contract with Liverpool in the near future

It is claimed that talks started last year and, although a new deal wasn’t signed, the club expect Alexander-Arnold to commit to a new long-term contract with around £55 million.

The new deal will see the Englishman earn a weekly wage of around £200,000, the report suggests, making him one of the Reds’ highest earners.

A product of Liverpool’s academy, the 25-year-old made his 300th appearance for the Reds across all competitions during their win over Chelsea last time out.

In that time he has provided more than 80 assists, as well as winning seven trophies including the Premier League and Champions League.

Alexander-Arnold’s current deal is set to expire in 2025, but those in charge of the club are keen to ensure that their key players remain with the club long-term following Klopp’s shock decision to leave the club at the end of the season.
