Premier League champions Liverpool are the only side with a 100% record still in tact this season after they beat Arsenal 1-0 on Sunday.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning free-kick was enough to earn the Reds all three points against the Gunners, in a game of few clear cut chances.

Arne Slot’s side sit top of the top flight table heaving into the international break, and the Dutchman will likely be pleased with their start to the season.

Liverpool have spent big so far this summer, with the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz arriving at Anfield.

Now, it has emerged that one of their midfielders is set to join a Premier League rival.

Fabrizio Romano claims that Harvey Elliott is set to join Aston Villa on loan for the rest of the season.

He claims that the England Under-21 international will join Unai Emery’s side for the remainder of the current campaign, with a clause included that will mean Villa are then obliged to sign the player for a fee of £35 million next summer.

The Englishman is set to undergo a medical ahead of his proposed move to Villa Park.

Elliott, 22, joined the Reds’ youth system from Fulham in 2019 and has since made 149 appearances for the club at senior level.

He has scored 15 goals in that time, as well as providing 20 assists, but the Englishman has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Anfield and it appears that his time with the club is now coming to an end.

The midfielder has made a single appearance for Slot’s side in the league so far this term, being introduced late on as the Reds defeated Newcastle United 3-2 at St. James’ Park last week.
