Premier League leaders Liverpool host fierce rivals Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

Arne Slot’s side have lost just once this season and currently boast an eight-point lead at the top of the table, as well as having a game-in-hand over many of their closest rivals.

The Dutchman will be very happy with his start to life on Merseyside, but he will also be desperate to see the Reds get the better of rivals United at Anfield on Sunday.

In the meantime, it appears that one of Liverpool’s most important players could stay put at Anfield despite recent reports.

According to Football Insider, the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold hasn’t yet been decided despite recent reports in Spain suggesting that the defender has agreed to join Real Madrid next summer.

The 26-year-old is in the final year of his current contract with Liverpool, and European champions Real have been showing interest in him for some time now.

The England international is able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with any club outside of England in January, and reports from Spain had suggested that he had already agreed a move to the Spanish capital at the end of the season.

Alexander-Arnold will soon enter into the final six months of his contract with Liverpool

Despite this, the report from Football Insider claims that the right-back’s future hasn’t yet been finalised and that he is instead fully focussed on winning silverware with the Reds this term.

Liverpool are well placed to win trophies this term, as they currently sit top of both the Premier League and Champions League tables and are also in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Alexander-Arnold has played more than 330 games for Liverpool since graduating from the club’s youth setup.

He has also provided 85 assists across all competitions, and his long-range strike against West Ham United last time out was his 20th goal for the club.
