Liverpool returned to winning ways in style by beating Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliot put the hosts in a commanding position at Anfield and, despite late goals from Richarlison and Son Heung-Min, the visitors were unable to stage a comeback.

The win leaves the Reds third in the Premier League table, keeping alive their very slim chances of lifting the title this term.

With manager Jurgen Klopp departing the club this summer, Dutchman Arne Slot is set to replace him at the helm.

According to Football Insider, though, some of Liverpool’s senior players are ‘privately underwhelmed’ at the appointment of the Feyenoord manager.

Slot is set to replace Klopp at Liverpool this summer

The report claims that Liverpool have agreed to pay the Eredivisie side a fee in the region of £10 million to lure Slot from Rotterdam to Merseyside, but the news hasn’t been overly well received by some of Liverpool’s most experienced players.

It is also claimed that players were not consulted on the appointment by those in charge of the club, and the reaction to the announcement in the dressing room at Anfield has been ‘lukewarm’.

Slot arrives in England as one of the most highly-regarded managers in European football, having guided Feyenoord to the Dutch top flight title last term.

He added the Dutch Cup to his trophy cabinet last month, too, but is set to depart the club once the current season has finished.
