Premier League champions Liverpool have been busy so far this summer, adding three new signings to Arne Slot’s squad.

Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez have all arrived at Anfield, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher are among those to have departed since the end of last term.

The Reds stormed to the Premier League title last term, and those in charge of the club appear to be willing to spend big this summer in order to defend their crown.

With that in mind, it has emerged that the Merseyside giants have made a move to sign a Bundesliga star.

As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have tabled their initial offer for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Romano claims that the Reds’ opening bid has already been rejected by the Bundesliga side, who are demanding a higher fee to allow the forward to depart.

Ekitike himself is said to be keen on the idea of a move to Anfield, which means that personal terms will not be an issue if the two clubs can reach an agreement.

The 23-year-old joined Eintracht from Paris Saint-Germain last year and has now played 64 times for the club across all competitions, scoring 26 goals and providing 14 assists.

He scored 22 times in 48 games for the German side last season, including 15 goals in 33 Bundesliga matches.

Romano also suggests that Newcastle United – who had been in negotiations to sign Ekitike – have now pulled out of the race to land the Frenchman.

Ekitike is under contract at Eintracht until the summer of 2029, which puts the Bundesliga side in a commanding position during negotiations over a potential deal.
