Liverpool completed the signing of midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Lepizig on Sunday.

The Reds announced the deal on their official site, with the Hungary international leaving the Bundesliga side after two years with the club.

The attacking midfielder has signed a five-year deal with Liverpool, and becomes the club’s second signing of the summer after Alexis Mac Allister joined from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Szoboszlai will add depth to manager Jurgen Klopp’s midfield, but it appears that the German is still keen to add more new signings to his squad.

According to Football Insider, the Merseyside club will now look to sign a central defender to bolster Klopp’s back line ahead of next term.

The report claims that Liverpool are hopeful of adding defensive reinforcements before the summer transfer window slams shut.

Last term, the Reds missed out on a place in the top four, meaning that they will have to settle for Europa League football next season as opposed to competing in the Champions League.

Goncalo Inacio is said to be a target for Liverpool

With that in mind, it appears that Klopp is keen to add at least one new centre-back to his squad.

The report claims that Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio remains on Liverpool’s shortlist of potential targets.

It is also claimed that the Reds had previously been interested in RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol, but the Croatia international is now believed to be closing in on a move to Premier League and Champions League holders Manchester City.

Virgil van Dijk was a mainstay in Klopp’s back line last term, making 41 appearances across all competitions.

The Dutchman was paired alongside Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez at different times, with the trio making 24, 21 and 31 appearances respectively across all competitions.

Konate in particular struggled with injuries last term, whilst Gomez has previously missed large spells due to injury.
