Liverpool are reportedly targeting a move for Hoffenheim defender Niklas Sule with Martin Skrtel nearing the exit door at Anfield, according to the Daily Mail.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is planning a big overhaul of his squad this summer and with Martin Skrtel set to leave the club after becoming a bit-part player under the German, and with doubts over the futures of out-of-contract Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho, who is awaiting his punishment for failing a drugs test in April, he wants to strengthen his centre-half options.

The Merseyside outfit have already signed 24-year-old Joel Matip from Schalke, and now Klopp is eyeing Sule, who is 6ft 5in tall and considered to have the right attributes to be a success in the Premier League, as Liverpool look to improve on a disappointing eighth-placed finish this term.

The Germany Under-21 international made 34 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit in the 2015/16 campaign.
