Liverpool begin their Premier League campaign with a visit to newly-promoted Ipswich Town next month.

Arne Slot will take his side to Portman Road to take charge of his first game for the Tractor Boys, having replaced Jurgen Klopp earlier this summer.

The Dutchman hasn’t yet added to his squad during the current transfer window, but those in charge of Liverpool’s recruitment will likely look to make use of the market in the coming weeks.

The Reds are also keen to keep hold of their most important players, and Football Insider claims that the club will hold official contract talks with defender Trent Alexander-Arnold before the end of the year.

The right-back’s current deal is set to expire next summer, and European champions Real Madrid have already shown interest in the England international.

Alexander-Arnold has less than one year remaining on his current contract

Alexander-Arnold, 25, is a product of Liverpool’s youth academy and has made more than 300 appearances for the club at senior level.

He has scored 19 goals in that time, as well as registering an impressive 81 assists across all competitions.

Slot is said to be intent on keeping hold of the player, and will therefore sit down to discuss Alexander-Arnold’s long-term plans in the near future.

If he does depart Anfield in the next year, it is claimed that Real Madrid plan to include the Englishman in a new ‘Galacticos’ squad.

At present, the defender will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club in January, and the report suggests that several clubs from across Europe are keeping tabs on the player’s situation, with a view to potentially signing him.
