Premier League leaders Liverpool will look to take another step towards the top flight title when they face Newcastle United on Wednesday night.

The Reds cruised to a 2-0 victory over reigning champions Manchester City last time out, with Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai on the scoresheet at The Etihad.

That win took Arne Slot’s side 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, with just 11 games remaining.

Despite their superb season so far, it appears that those guiding the Merseyside outfit’s recruitment are still on the hunt for new recruits, and it appears that Liverpool are now set to rival Manchester United for the signing of an England international.

According to CaughtOffside, both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are set to join Man United in the race to sign Everton defender Jarrad Braithwaite.

The 22-year-old centre-back is enjoying a fine season at Goodison Park, impressing particularly since the return of manager David Moyes last month.

Braithwaite is set to be the subject of huge interest this summer

Having joined the Toffees from boyhood club Carlisle United in 2020, the central defender has since spent time on loan at both Blackburn Rovers and Dutch side PSV Eindhoven.

In total he has now played 75 times for Everton, but the report claims that Liverpool, United and Spurs are set to battle it out to sign the player when the transfer window reopens this summer.

Nottingham Forest’s Murillo is also said to be of interest to the trio of clubs, with Everton desperate to keep hold of Branthwaite beyond this summer.

The one-time England international is under contract with the Toffees until the end of the 2026/27 campaign, but the Merseyside outfit are keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal in an effort to deter interest from elsewhere.
