Liverpool begin the upcoming Premier League campaign with a visit to the North East to face Newcastle United, before hosting Nottingham Forest in their first home match.

The Reds’ visit to St. James’ Park will mark Andoni Iraola’s first game in charge of the club, following the Spaniard’s appointment earlier this month.

The ex-Bournemouth man replaced Arne Slot as the helm at Anfield, with the Dutchman having been sacked just 12 months after guiding the Merseyside outfit to their second title of the Premier League era.

Ahead of the new season starting, it has emerged that Liverpool are plotting a huge offer for one of the stars of the World Cup so far.

As per BILD, via SportWitness, Liverpool are set to make a second offer worth in excess of £100 million for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.

The report claims that the Reds had an opening bid of around £86 million rejected by the Bundesliga outfit, but the Reds are now preparing an immediate response.

Diomande, 19, has enjoyed a meteoric rise since joining Leipzig from Spanish side Leganes in the summer of 2025.

He scored 13 goals and registered 10 assists in 36 games for the German side across all competitions last term, and was selected to be part of the Ivory Coast squad for the World Cup in North America this summer.

Diomande has started both of Ivory Coast’s matches at the tournament so far and impressed hugely, and he will hope to help his country to beat Curacao on Wednesday and progress into the knockout stages of the competition.

The report suggests that those in charge of Leipzig, including former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, are reluctant to allow the Ivorian to depart the club this summer and intend to reject any further offers.

Liverpool, however, are said to be preparing an offer consisting of an initial fee of around £87 million, plus an additional £17 million in add-ons.
