Liverpool will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they face Bournemouth on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sit two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the standings, but victory ver the Cherries could extend their advantage.

In the meantime, the Reds have been quoted a huge sum for one of their transfer targets.

According to Football Insider, Aston Villa would accept an offer of £100 million for midfielder Douglas Luiz.

The report claims that Liverpool have been informed of Villa’s stance on selling the player, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best central midfielders in recent seasons.

Luiz has attracted interest from Liverpool

The Brazilian joined Villa from Manchester City back in 2019 and has since made more than 180 appearances for the Villans across all competitions.

Luiz has scored 19 goals and provided 20 assists during his time at Villa Park, including seven goals so far this term.

Spanish side Barcelona are also said to be interested in the 25-year-old, who is contracted to Villa until the summer of 2026.

Arsenal also had two offers for the midfielder – who failed to make a senior appearance for City – rejected in 2022 and ultimately ended up signing Declan Rice from West Ham United.

Liverpool underwent a huge midfield overhaul last summer, replacing the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and James Milner.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo all joined the Anfield outfit, but it appears that Klopp is still keen to bolster his options.

Villa boss Unai Emery has recently hinted that the Midlands club may have to sell players this year in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play restrictions, but the Spaniard will undoubtedly be reluctant to lose a player that has become an integral part of his side.
