Arsenal travel to Anfield where they will face Liverpool on Wednesday night still in pole position to win their first Premier League title in 12 years.

The Gunners maintained their place at the summit with a 1-0 home win against Newcastle a-week-and-a-half ago, which moved them two points clear of second-placed Leicester City.

Arsene Wenger’s men also got their FA Cup defence off to a resounding start on Saturday, progressing to the fourth round with a 3-1 victory against Sunderland.

However, the North London side can often throw in a poor performance, as shown in the 4-0 defeat at Southampton in their last away league match.

Jurgen Klopp’s hosts are just about challenging on all three fronts after an inexperienced and injury-hit side drew 2-2 at Exeter in the FA Cup on Friday.

Three days before their trip to Devon, the German’s side moved a step closer to the Capital One Cup final by beating Stoke City 1-0 in the first-leg of their semi-final at the Britannia Stadium.

In the league though, the Reds have lost three of their last six games, including a 2-0 defeat at West Ham last time out, leaving them six points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham.

However, at Anfield, Liverpool have lost just two of nine league matches and will be prove a tough nut for the Gunners to crack.

Team News:

Liverpool have a serious injury list to deal with but have been boosted by the return of Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and loan capture of Steven Caulker.

Midfielders Jordan Henderson, Jordon Ibe and James Milner could also make a welcomed return.

But Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Rossiter, Divock Origi, Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel and Phillipe Coutinho are all struggling with hamstring strains.

Alexis Sanchez and Tomas Rosicky are nearing a return but will not be involved until the weekend, while goalkeeper David Ospina is a doubt.

Meanwhile, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck all remain sidelined.
