Liverpool are reportedly weighing up a summer move to sign Argentinian star Leandro Paredes, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via the Daily Express).

The Premier League side, who currently sit ninth in the standings after Sunday’s 3-2 defeat to Southampton in the English top-flight, have set their sights on recruiting the AS Roma midfielder once the current 2015-16 campaign has concluded.

The 21-year-old, who is a former Argentina Under-17 international, has scored two goals and provided one assist in 26 league games so far this season whilst on loan at fellow Serie A outfit Empoli.

Paredes, who began his career with Boca Juniors in his native country, could be offloaded by the Italian club this summer as they are looking to raise funds by selling a host of stars at the Stadio Olimpico.

The report suggests that Liverpool’s scouts have watched the defensive midfielder in action several times this term and are likely to firm up their interest in the player later this year with a formal offer.
