Liverpool moved a step closer to qualification for the Champions League knockout stages with a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo earned Arne Slot’s side a fifth straight win in the competition’s group phase, in a match where both Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah missed penalties.

Slot has enjoyed a fine start to life on Merseyside, with his side currently sat top of both the Premier League table and the Champions League standings.

The Dutchman will hope that his side can continue their excellent run of form, but he may also choose to dip into the transfer market when it reopens in January.

With that in mind, it appears that the Reds are monitoring a Premier League defender.

As per GiveMeSport, the Merseyside outfit are keeping tabs on Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson and weighing up a January move for the player.

Robinson remains a target for both Liverpool and Manchester City

Robinson, 27, has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League over the past couple of seasons.

He joined the Cottagers from Football League side Wigan Athletic in 2020 and has since made more than 160 appearances for the West London outfit.

His fine form for the Whites hasn’t gone unnoticed, though, and the report claims that Liverpool haven’t yet ruled out the possibility of trying to discover whether or not the player would be interested in a January move.

Their decision comes amid interest from fierce rivals Manchester City, and Liverpool are therefore keen to get ahead the race for the American’s signature.

Robinson’s current deal with Fulham doesn’t expire until 2028, which means Fulham would be under very little pressure to sell the player next year.

Despite this, they may struggle to keep hold of the player if Liverpool or City do realise their interest.
