Liverpool face Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday.

The Reds go into the match full of confidence, having extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 13 points last week.

Arne Slot’s side are also in the Carabao Cup final, where they face Newcastle United at Wembley later this month.

Away from the action, though, it appears that the Dutchman is keen to bolster his squad.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool have started to explore a potential move for Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.

The report claims that the Merseyside club are considering a move for the Netherlands international as a possible replacement for right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is out of contract this summer and looks increasingly likely to join Real Madrid as a free agent.

Frimpong is a target for both Liverpool and Manchester City

With that in mind, the report claims that those in charge of the Reds are undecided about whether to spend heavily on an experienced new right-back, or recruit a younger player to compete with Conor Bradley.

If they do make a move to sign Frimpong, the report claims that Liverpool are set to face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the race to land the Dutchman.

The Citizens are set to be in the market for a new right-back as they look to replace Kyle Walker, who is currently on loan at AC Milan but is expected to leave the club permanently at the end of the season.

Frimpong, 24, can play in a number of role on the right flank, including as a wing-back or full-back.

He is under contract with the reigning Bundesliga champions until 2028, but the report appears to suggest that Leverkusen could face a fierce battle to keep hold of the player beyond this summer.
