Borussia Dortmund are trying to ward off Liverpool by offering their reported transfer target Christian Pulisic a new contract, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Premier League side, who have climbed to the top of the English top-flight standings after thrashing Watford 6-1 at Anfield last weekend, have been continually linked with a move for the highly-rated USA international forward.
The 18-year-old, who already has nine senior international caps for his country, has scored two goals and provided six assists in 12 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.
Pulisic, who was understood to be the subject of a failed £11m bid from The Reds during the summer, is under contract with the German club until 2019.
The report suggests that Liverpool boss, and former Dortmund manager, Jurgen Klopp is looking for a new forward ahead of the January transfer window after losing Danny Ings for the campaign due to injury, whilst fellow winger Sadio Mane will be away with Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations in the new year.
