Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams, has spoken out amidst interest from Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool, however, it is not what those on Merseyside wanted to hear.

The 22-year-old, who has got on the score sheet just once in 12 outings for the Basque side so far this season, committed his future to the La Liga side.

Speaking to Spanish outlet, AS, the versatile forward said:

“Like I said at the time [when I signed my new deal]. I’m happy at Athletic, it’s where I want to be.

“I am very grateful to the fans, the club and my team mates” he added.

The Spain U21 international penned a new deal last season, which included a £45m (€50m) release clause, but he seems determined to make a name for himself with Bilbao.

He continued “I want to continue here for many more years.

“I want to be Athletic’s furture No.9 – the player who raises the roof at San Mamés every week and scores lot of goals.”

Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp, has been credited with interest in a number of attacking players to add to his already swelled midfield in January. However, it seems he may have to look for alternatives to Williams.
