Liverpool could reportedly make a move for Germany international star Mario Gotze this summer, according to Goal.

The Premier League side, who currently sit fourth in the top-flight standings after defeating Arsenal 3-1 on Saturday night, have been linked with luring the Borussia Dortmund midfielder to Anfield ahead of the 2017-18 campaign.

The 24-year-old, who has 62 international caps for his country, has scored two goals and provided two assists in 16 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Gotze, who rejoined Dortmund back in July from defending German top-flight champions FC Bayern Munich, worked with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp during his time at the Westfalenstadion.

The report suggests Liverpool could offer the German a route into English football, and an opportunity to revive his world-class ability, after he was recently diagnosed with a rare muscle disorder.

Gotze was part of the Germany squad that lifted the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
