Arsenal continued their fine resurgence on Sunday as they cruised to a 5-0 victory over struggling Norwich City at Carrow Road.

The victory, which came courtesy of a brace from Bukayo Saka, as well as strikes from Kieran Tierney, Alexandre Lacazette and Emile Smith-Rowe, gave the Gunners a four point cushion between them and fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Mikel Arteta chose once again to leave Piere-Emerick Aubameyang out of the squad, making it five straight victories and 19 goals scored since the former club captain was relieved of his duties.

The Gabon international’s continued exclusion has fuelled speculation that he will depart the club in January, however it appears that he may not be the only player leaving the Emirates next month.

As per Goal, Italian side Roma are close to completing the signing of Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Maitland-Niles and Aubameyang both look set to leave Arsenal in January

The report states that the Englishman is close to signing for the Serie A side, having started just two Premier League games all season.

The five-time England international was expected to leave the club over the summer after publicly voicing his frustrations at his lack of playing time, but changed his mind and opted to stay in North London after talks with Arteta.

Now, however, after once again finding himself out of favour under the Spaniard, it appears that the 24-year-old is finally out of patience and has decided to leave.

The deal will reportedly be a loan agreement, likely until the end of the season.

The versatile midfielder, who can also operate at right-back, will join Jose Mourinho’s side, and will also join up with fellow Englishman Tammy Abraham in the Italian capital.

Maitland-Niles’ only goal involvement of the season so far was an assist in the Gunners’ Carabao Cup victory over West Bromwich Albion.
