Manchester City face fierce rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.

The Citizens won a record fourth consecutive Premier League title by beating West Ham United last time out, their seventh top flight title in a decade.

Manager Pep Guardiola will be hoping to add yet another trophy to his glittering trophy cabinet, and the Citizens are overwhelming favourites to do so on Saturday.

In the meantime, City have agreed a deal with a 38-year-old.

The club announced on Thursday that veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson has signed a new one-year-deal with the Premier League champions.

Carson has made just two appearances in five years at Man City

The former England international’s deal was set to expire this summer, but he has now penned an extension that will last a further 12 months.

Carson joined City on loan from Derby County in 2019, before making the move permanent two years later.

He has acted as City’s third-choice goalkeeper for almost the entirety of his time at The Etihad, making just two appearances in total for the club.

Carson’s last appearance for City came as a substitute in a Champions League game against Portuguese side Sporting CP in March 2022.
