Manchester City and Liverpool are both monitoring the situation of Barcelona youngster Gavi, but the player’s release clause could potentially put the two clubs off.

As per Spanish outlet Marca, the 17-year-old is being monitored by a number of top clubs from across Europe, including the Premier League’s top two clubs.

The Spaniard has a release clause of 50 million euros, but that is due to rise to around £85 million this month, which could potentially deter City and the Reds.

Gavi has impressed for the La Liga side since making his debut last year, and ended the season having made 46 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions.

The teenager was also awarded his senior debut for Spain, and has played in every single game since.

City and Liverpool are interested in the possibility of signing Gavi as a future prospect, although he would also undoubtedly command first team appearances immediately despite his young age.

The player signed a new deal at the Nou Camp in September 2020, but the Catalan giants have been working hard recently to agree a new deal with the midfielder.

The report claims that Gavi’s intention is to stay put in Barcelona, which is bad news for both City and Liverpool.
