Manchester City return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Burnley at The Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side cruised through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in midweek courtesy of a 2-0 win over League One side Huddersfield Town, setting up a meeting with Championship side Swansea City in the next round.

The Citizens will be strong favourites to get the better of Burnley on Saturday, and in the meantime it appears that City may soon be handed a huge boost.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Man City are closing in on an agreement over a new contract for winger Savinho.

He claims that the Premier League giants are getting closer to an agreement with the Brazilian, whose current contract is set to run until the end of the 2028/29 season.

Savinho, 21, joined City from French side Troyes in the summer of 2024 and made 48 appearances across all competitions during his debut season in England.

The Brazilian made his first start of the current season against the Terriers in the Carabao Cup this week, having missed City’s first three games of the Premier League season due to injury.

He was heavily linked with a move away from City over the summer, with Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur touted as a possible destination for the winger.

Romano claims that City rejected two offers from the Lilywhites for the ex-Troyes man over the summer, with the Manchester club intent on keeping hold of the player.

It is also claimed that Savinho is now set to commit his long-term future to City, with talks over a new deal at an advanced stage and an agreement said to be very close.
