Manchester City will be hoping to move top of the Premier League table when they face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.

The reigning champions cruised to a 4-1 win over The Gunners on Wednesday evening, with the result moving them to within two points of Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Citizens have two games in hand over their rivals, though, and they will move top of the pile if they defeat The Cottagers on Sunday, with Arsenal not playing until they face Chelsea on Tuesday.

Now, though, it appears that City are considering a shock move for one of Arsenal’s players this summer.

As per Football Insider, the Manchester side are plotting a move for Gunners left-back Kieran Tierney.

The Scot has acted as second choice to former City man Oleksandr Zinchenko on the left of defence for the majority of this season, starting just five Premier League games so far.

Despite that, City are said to be actively working to find out whether or not a deal could be possible.

Tierney is said to be a shock target for Manchester City

The 25-year-old joined Arsenal from Scottish side Celtic in the summer of 2019 and was a regular during his first three season in north London.

This term, though, the arrival of Zinchenko from City has prompted a decrease in the Scotland international’s playing time.

For City, though, left-back has become something of a problem area, with Joao Cancelo having departed the club on loan to Bayern Munich in January.

Since his departure, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji and Rico Lewis have all been deployed on the left of defence on occasion.

Cancelo could yet return to The Etihad this summer, but it appears that City are still keen to add a natural left-back to their squad ahead of next term.

Tierney is said to be open to the idea of leaving Arsenal in search of a new challenge, although it remains to be seen whether Arsenal would let the player – who is contracted to The Gunners until 2026 – leave this summer.
