Manchester City suffered a second successive pre-season defeat as they were beaten 3-2 by AC Milan on Saturday.

Erling Haaland and James McAtee were on target for Pep Guardiola’s side, but the reigning Premier League champions were unable to prevent Milan from running out winners, just days after City lost to Scottish side Celtic.

Guardiola will be desperate to see his side improve before the start of the new season, with the Citizens bidding to win an unprecedented fourth consecutive English top fight title.

In the meantime, it has emerged that City could sign a new goalkeeper this summer.

As per Football Insider, the Manchester outfit will look to sign a new ‘keeper if Ederson moves to Saudi Arabia during the current transfer window.

The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in recent weeks, and the 30-year-old is said to be open to the prospect of a lucrative move to the Middle East.

Ortega could become Man City’s first choice ‘keeper next season

The report claims that, if Ederson does depart, those in charge of City are confident that Stefan Ortega can become first choice ‘keeper, however they will look to add depth to Guardiola’s goalkeeping options.

Ortega, 31, joined City from German side Arminia Bielefeld two years ago, and has since acted as back-up for Ederson in Guardiola’s side.

The German has played 34 times for the Citizens across all competitions, keeping 17 clean sheets.

Last season, he played 20 times for Guardiola’s side and impressed when covering for the injured Ederson.

If Ederson does depart The Etihad, City’s remaining ‘keepers would be Ortega and 38-year-old former England international Scott Carson, who recently signed a new contract with the club.
