Erling Haaland has made a quite remarkable start to his Manchester City career, even by his own prolific standards.

The Norwegian arrived in England having scored 115 goals in his previous 116 club matches across spells with both RB Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund, but the striker has adapted quickly to the Premier League.

Having netted twice on his league debut against West Ham United, Haaland also scored against Newcastle and then scored his first hat-trick for City against Crystal Palace on Saturday, taking his tally to six goals in four league matches.

Having already won the Premier League title in four of the last five seasons, the addition of Haaland to Pep Guardiola’s side was always a fairly daunting prospect for the division’s remaining teams.

Now, though, it appears that City may not stop there.

Guardiola could spend big in January

According to The Sun, Guardiola could be allowed to spend another £100 million in the January transfer window, if any players particularly impress him during this winter’s World Cup.

The report claims that City, who have already spent a total of £104 million this summer on the likes of Haaland, Kalvin Phillips and Julian Alvarez among others, could still add to their squad this season.

This comes after those in charge at the club insisted that there will be no further additions before the current window closes.

City will fund any potential signings from the cash gained from player sales this summer.

Senior players including Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko were all allowed to leave, with the report claiming that City have earned around £250 million from selling players this summer.

City’s total spend of just over £100 million this summer is actually one of their lowest in recent seeasons.

Guardiola goes into the current season with just 18 senior players available to him, although he does have a first class academy to utilise throughout the season.

There will be a plethora of talent on show in Qatar during November and December though, and it appears that Guardiola may move to acquire anyone that impresses.
