Manchester City are likely to face a transfer battle for Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong, as the player’s agent announces that a decision on his client’s future will be made soon, according to the Mirror.

It’s not just Pep Guardiola and City who are interested in the starlet, with both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain linked with the player.

The Spanish boss is thought to have made de Jong his number one midfield target, as he clearly tries to secure a much-needed back up to the 33-year-old Fernandinho.

Pep has his eye on Ajax star.

de Jong, 21, is thought to be the future of Dutch football and has even been branded the new Johan Cruyff.

Having joined Ajax in 2016, he helped the team reach the Europa League final in his first season. The Dutchman’s performances have only improved and he is now one of the first names on the team sheet.

The young star’s club form has seen him make his debut for the national team, and is likely to face England in the Nations League semi-final in June.

The Mirror report that Guardiola is keen to sign de Jong as early as January, but not only do they face from other European giants, it’s unlikely Ajax will let their star go mid-season.
